China has presented its plans against climate change
China is the country in the world with the largest amount of carbon dioxide that is released into the atmosphere. There is no other country that stands for more pollution and more damage to the atmosphere, but now the chinese are thinking a little green. Even before the Copenhagen Summit the chinese government has stated that they have a plan to reduce the carbon emissions.
After the United States had said they have a plan to reduce carbon emissions the chinese also said they have a plan, but what is actually behind all these plans that are suddenly being explained in the media. The chinese have stated that they will reduce the carbon emissions by 40-45% of the national income which would mean that there will be a reduction of 40% but a growth of 60%.
All eyes are looking toward the meeting in Copenhagen where the governments will negotiate a new "Kyoto Protocol" for the future goals of each country. The negotiations have not come to a result so far in the past because developing countries and rich countries argued about who should reduce their emissions and who is to pay for the technology to reduce emissions.
China is becoming a role model for all of the developing countries to step up and reduce the carbon emissions in their country. Although the reduction of the carbon emissions are dependant of the national income and although China´s carbon emission amount will continue to grow, the target is difficult and perhaps to high even for an economy which is growing as fast as Chinas.
